Set Up Your Favorite Mail App
General steps for the most common apps - exact wording varies by version.
Gmail (app or gmail.com)
- Settings → See all settings → Accounts and Import → "Add a mail account" (web), or Settings → Add account → Other on the mobile app.
- Enter your full mailbox address, then choose "Import emails from my other account (POP3)" or, on mobile, pick IMAP when offered.
- Enter the incoming server, port and security type from above, and your mailbox password (not your TechMail login password).
- When asked for an outgoing server, enter the SMTP details above so Gmail can send as this address too.
Outlook (desktop or web)
- Add account → Advanced options → "Let me set up my account manually."
- Choose IMAP, then enter the incoming server/port/security from above.
- On the outgoing server screen, enter the SMTP server/port/security from above.
- Use your full mailbox address as the username and your mailbox password.
Apple Mail (macOS / iOS)
- Settings/Preferences → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other Mail Account.
- Enter your name, full mailbox address, and mailbox password.
- When it can't auto-discover settings, enter the IMAP (or POP3) and SMTP servers/ports from above manually.
- Apple Mail negotiates STARTTLS automatically once the port matches.
Thunderbird
- Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, mailbox address, and password, then click "Configure manually" before Thunderbird auto-guesses wrong settings.
- Set IMAP (or POP3) and SMTP to the server/port/security shown above.
- Click "Re-test" or "Done" - Thunderbird will confirm the connection immediately.
Common Connection Problems
The app couldn't reach the server on that port - almost always because the protocol is currently disabled on this installation, or a network firewall between you and the server is blocking it. Confirm the server and port above are entered exactly, and check with whoever operates this TechMail installation that the protocol shows "Available" above.
